Corporate Social Responsibility at Saint-Gobain India is built on two pillars — Business Identity and Business Values. While our flagship programs nurture skills, employability, and livelihoods for the construction ecosystem, our community programs empower education, health, and gender equality — ensuring that progress is inclusive and sustainable.

Skills & Livelihood Development

Empowering today's youth. Building tomorrow's construction workforce.

Skill development is at the heart of Saint-Gobain India's CSR identity. Through an integrated skilling pyramid — from vocational training to factory academies to university partnerships — we prepare India's youth for the future of light, sustainable construction.

These initiatives are closely aligned with Saint-Gobain's global vision of Being the World Leader in Light and Sustainable Construction. By integrating sustainability with Saint-Gobain's core expertise and industry leadership, we create long-term value through sustainable skill academies, experience centers, and channel partner enablement — fostering education, skilling, and innovation in sustainable manufacturing and construction.

Our initiatives include:

Learn While Earn (LWE)

A breakthrough vocational scholarship where 50% of financial support goes to parents. Through our partnership with NTTF, over 360 students have been trained in Manufacturing Technology via a four-year diploma programme with a practice school model. Now extended to Rajasthan and open to girls, LWE ensures clear pathways to employment.

SG Academies (Glass, Gypsum, Weber)

Hands-on training for factory personnel, technicians, and local youth to build the skills needed for modern construction systems.

STEM & Foundational Learning

In partnership with Samskriya Foundation, we nurture scientific thinking and early education for 615 students across 6 schools in rural Sriperumbudur. Using low-cost materials and storytelling, we make science engaging and relatable — preparing children for future employability and opportunity. Together, these initiatives build a workforce that is industry-ready, future-ready, and aligned with Saint-Gobain's mission of Making the World a Better Home.

Health & Education

Nurturing lives. Empowering futures.

Education and health are the foundation of inclusive progress. Through targeted programs for girls, differently abled communities, early childhood development, and sanitation, Saint-Gobain creates pathways to opportunity, and independence.

Guided by Saint-Gobain's purpose of "Making The World A Better Home," these strategic social initiatives deliver meaningful impact while strengthening goodwill and trust in communities where Saint-Gobain operates. With a focus on gender equality, quality education, health and well-being, and clean water and sanitation, Saint-Gobain supports girl child education, women's empowerment, and differently abled and disadvantaged communities — ensuring inclusion, equity, and regional development aligned with Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013 (India).

Our initiatives include:

Project Puthri

A five-year empowerment programme for adolescent girls from 8th to 12th grade. In partnership with Avtar Human Capital Trust (AHCT), we equip over 1,100 girls across 11 schools with life skills, career guidance, and the confidence to break the cycle of poverty and pursue meaningful careers.

Girl Child Education

Through partnerships with Nanhi Kali Foundation, IIMPACT, and Parikrama Humanity Foundation, we support 5,260+ underprivileged girls with quality education, digital learning tools, and foundational literacy — ensuring they stay in school and build independent futures.

Empowering Differently Abled Communities

Supporting Little Flower School for 90 girls — including 60 hearing/speech impaired and 30 visually impaired students — with education, accommodation, and healthcare. Through Help The Blind Foundation, we provide smart vision glasses, assistive technology, and resource rooms at Madras Christian College to enhance education, mobility, and employability.

Early Childhood Development

Transforming anganwadis into safe, stimulating learning environments. We've set up 28 model centers and renovated 55 others in partnership with Hand in Hand India — impacting 1,050+ children and mothers with improved infrastructure, learning tools, and nutrition support.

Health & Sanitation (WASH)

Contributing to India's Swachh Bharat Mission by building 400 modern, dignified toilet facilities in rural Tamil Nadu. In partnership with local NGOs, we bring safety, hygiene, and dignity to underserved families.

Child Safety & Family Strengthening

Through Sakshi and SOS Children's Villages, we protect children from abuse, empower 600 vulnerable families across 8 villages, and create loving home environments for children in need. We've also trained 300 community workers in child protection and behavioural safety practices.

Sustainability & Environment

Environmental stewardship is integral to Saint-Gobain's purpose of making the world a better home. From urban reforestation to water conservation and climate action, our sustainability initiatives demonstrate our commitment to a carbon-neutral, resource-efficient future.

Our initiatives include:

Miyawaki Urban Forest

Transforming a 2-acre industrial dump yard into a thriving green lung at our Sriperumbudur facility. In partnership with SIPCOT, we've planted 60,000 native saplings across 40 species — absorbing CO₂, enriching biodiversity, and advancing our Zero Net Carbon commitment. Within 4–5 years, each tree will absorb 10–20 kg of CO₂ annually.

Water Conservation & Rainwater Harvesting

Our Miyawaki Forest is nourished entirely through treated water from an STP tank fed by harvested rooftop rainwater — demonstrating sustainable water management in action.

Climate Action & Carbon Neutrality

Aligned with SDG 13, our sustainability initiatives contribute to Saint-Gobain's global goal of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 — making the world a better, greener home for future generations.
